Overview
GFI LanGuard older versions are not downloading the latest product and definition updates, producing Program Update failures "Error downloading file. Incomplete transfer." or unexpected errors while scanning, for example, "Full security applications audit failed".
This article defines the list of current versions that receive new definitions via Program Updates and how to address the problem of not getting the latest updates.
Diagnosis
Since LanGuard is a security-based application, the updated definitions are only provided to the latest versions of the product that are released. The current versions that receive the updated definitions are:
- 11.4 (OEM Installations only)
- 12.4
- 12.5
Check your LanGuard version in the LanGuard console -> Configuration tab -> General -> Version Information. If it is older than the versions above, LanGuard will report failures during the Program Update process. The most common failure that you can see:
Error downloading file. Incomplete transfer.
The inability to get updates and definitions also may lead to various unexpected errors during the scanning process, for example:
Full security applications audit failed.
Solution
You should upgrade to the latest version of the product to receive the latest definitions. See Upgrading GFI LanGuard for details on the full process and links to the appropriate upgrade paths.
Testing
After upgrading to the latest version, open LanGuard console, go to Configuration Tab, and Check for Updates under Program Updates. Verify that the error message is gone.
If you still experience updating failures, refer to the Updating LanGuard Server Manually When Product Does Not Get Latest Definitions or Agents Do Not Update article.
