Overview
This article describes how to filter devices in the Computer Tree panel using specific parameters and provides additional information on filter usage.
Solution
Computers and other devices can be filtered by the basic attributes or by using a custom filter in the Computer Tree panel, for monitoring or managing purposes.
Simple Filtering
To filter for a specific computer or group matching the set of defined simple criteria:
- In the Computer Tree, click Filter.
- Configure each filter in the menu by using the drop-down arrows (see Additional Information) to narrow your search and click Turn ON filters.
- Once the filters become active, you may click Clear filters to reset them or Turn OFF filters temporarily:
Advanced Filtering
Advanced filtering allows you to dig a bit deeper and filter by specific properties within the search or scan results:
- In the Computer Tree, click Filter.
- Click on the link next to the Advanced filters. The link name is Define... if no advanced filters are set yet or Edit... in case of an existing filter.
or - From the Advanced Filtering dialog, click Add.
- Select the filter property to restrict and click Next.
- Select the condition and key in the condition value. Click Add.
- Repeat steps 3 to 5 for each condition. Click OK to apply the Advanced filter.
Additional Information
Simple filters can be configured using the following criteria:
- Vulnerability level
- Operating System (OS)
- Last scan time
- Agent Status
- Network role
Consider the following examples as use cases of filtering:
- If you would like to review machines based on their vulnerability, configure the Vulnerability level under filters to only show machines matching the levels you are interested in.
- As an administrator, you want to determine how many machines need to be updated before an End of Life period for an Operating System. In this case, use the filter to list servers with the specific Operating System to update them.
- You are using agents and would like to find any machines that do not have the agent installed - just filter the entire tree by Agent Status.
