Overview
Antivirus software on the machine running GFI LanGuard is causing LanGuard to malfunction, or LanGuard hangs at startup, showing a vulnerability status static image before it actually starts.
Solution
This occurs because antivirus software denies access to certain files required by GFI LanGuard. Exclude the following folders and subfolders from antivirus software scanning:
- Microsoft Windows Vista/Server 2008 and later
- 64-bit:
<system drive>:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\
- 32-bit:
<system drive>:\Program Files\GFI\
<system drive>:\ProgramData\GFI\
- 64-bit:
- Old Microsoft operating systems Windows XP/Server 2003:
<system drive>:\Documents and settings\all users\application data\GFI\
<system drive>:\Program Files\GFI\
- The directory of the MS SQL server instance and the database files (*.mdf/*.ldf)
Testing
Restart the GFI LanGuard services and launch the LanGuard console. If the issue persists, contact GFI LanGuard Support.
