Answer
When scanning a network, you may need to specify different credentials depending on the computer being scanned. Using the computer profiles in the GFI LanGuard configuration, you can specify different sets of logon credentials for different target computers. The scanning engine can then refer to the logon credentials stored in these computer profiles when authenticating to target computers.
- Open the GFI LanGuard console and navigate to the Dashboard tab
- Right click the desired machine and select properties
- In the General tab, under the "Credentials" section, alternate credentials can be defined
Note: Credentials can be defined to a Domain or Organizational Unit. To do this:
- Right click the node desired and select properties
- In the General tab, under the "Credentials" section, alternate credentials can be defined
- When editing credentials on a Domain or OU, you will be prompted to propogate to member machines
Note: If using GFI LanGuard 2011, build 20111128 or later, credentials can be defined for a group as well (if sorting by group), not just to a Domain or Organizational UnitIf scanning from the GFI LanGuard console (Scan tab in the console), ensure that 'Use per computer credentials when available' is selected (may be found under Scan Options... in scan tab)
