Overview
This article provides information about the GFI LanGuard trial license limitation on the number of computers and mobile devices to scan and the restriction on the option to remove/delete servers and computers from the LanGuard Console during the evaluation period.
Diagnosis
GFI LanGuard is patch management and network auditing solution acting as a virtual security consultant that enables you to manage and maintain endpoint protection across devices within your network.
GFI Languard offers the full functionality of the product for a free 30-day trial for potential customers to experience all its features, such as
- Patch Management for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux;
- Network and software auditing; and
- Vulnerability scanning for computers and mobile devices.
It is important to know that for the trial license, the product's functionality is available for a limited number of computers and mobile devices.
Solution
The LanGuard trial license difference from a standard LanGuard license is that during the 30-day evaluation, the functionality is available only for 25 IP addresses and 25 mobile devices.
This also means that the option to remove computer(s) from the LanGuard Console is not available during the evaluation period. This limitation prevents potential customers from taking advantage of the evaluation period using the application over an entire network for a few days without eventually purchasing the product.
The ability to download updates from an alternative location is not available while using an evaluation license key.
Note: the Trial version of GFI LanGuard cannot be reactivated with another Trial if the first Trial license is expired. So if your trial license has expired and you have extended the trial license period, the same license cannot be used in the same machine. You can do either of the following:
1. Install GFI LanGuard on a new machine, and enter your new trial license key.
OR
2. Reinstall OS on the current machine, and then install GFI LanGuard entering the new trial license key.
