When updating the license key, the GFI LanGuard server is reporting the error "An unknown error occurred. Could not load file or assembly unicorn.accountapi.client version=188.8.131.52".
This article provides a solution for resolving the issue.
The error above is caused by the system being unable to communicate with the GFI Unicorn Licensing licensing servers. Most commonly, this has been seen on the servers in highly secured environments due to internet access absence.
- Stop all the GFI LanGuard services.
- Navigate to Shared Application folder, by default
C:\ProgramData\GFI\LanGuard XX(where XX is the version number).
- Locate the
toolcfg_license.xmland open it in your preferred text editor.
- Enter your new license key in the indicated location.
- Save the edited file.
- Restart the GFI LanGuard services.
The GFI LanGuard will start with the new license key in place, verify the license details.
