Overview
It is possible to add new software or customize software categories in GFI LanGuard. This article provides instructions on the configuration process and steps.
Diagnosis
GFI LanGuard comes with a Software Categories feature that enables users to add and sort software according to different categories. It also supports editing software details. Once changes are made new scans will reflect them in Dashboard and Reports.
Solution
Setting Up Software Categories
- Launch GFI LanGuard.
- Go to Configuration > Software Categories.
- On the right panel, click the Add drop-down list and select the following options:
New Software Category
To add a new software category - enter the name for the new software category and click OK.
Add Software to a Category
To add new software to a category - enter the name and publisher of the new software and select the category for the new software.
Importing Software to a Category
To import software to a category - select the text file containing the software name and select the category you want the software to be included in.
Editing a Software Category
To customize the software in a category:
- Launch GFI LanGuard.
- Go to Configuration > Software Categories
- On the right panel click Edit.
- Change the necessary details and click OK to save the changes.
Testing
A new scan is required to reflect in Dashboard and Reports any changes made here. Wait for a regular scanning to occur or run a Manual Scan.
