Overview
Full LanGuard console or Agent scan on client systems is reporting no antivirus / anti-malware on the servers and workstations, or shows that antispyware module needs to be enabled, but you already have corresponding endpoint protection software installed.
This article describes the process to follow in case the antivirus or other software belonging to the security category is not detected when scanning a machine with GFI LanGuard.
Solution
-
Check the LanGuard current list of Supported Windows Security Applications and verify if your installed protection software is present there. If the application is not on the list, it is NOT supported by the GFI LanGuard, and that is why it is not detected as security software.
If you believe it should be added there, contact GFI LanGuard Support and provide full details of the product, including the exact version deployed, URL of the third-party vendor's site, and the target machine scanning results XML.
Alternatively, you can add edit the Scanning Profiles you are using to assign your protection software to antispyware, antivirus, or other security category.
-
If the application is already on the list and the category is correct, you may be missing the updated definitions.
-
If you are not using the latest LanGuard version - Upgrade the GFI LanGuard since the updated definitions are only provided to the latest versions of the product that are released.
-
Environmental changes may be preventing LanGuard from automatically downloading the latest patch detection and vulnerability definitions. Follow the Updating LanGuard Server Manually When Product Does Not Get Latest Definitions or Agents Do Not Update article to ensure you have the most recent definitions.
-
- Verify the Scanning Profile used to ensure that it has correct Network & Software Audito Options and security applications are not ignored in the Application Scanning Options Configuration.
- If you are running a console scan, make sure that full security applications audit is enabled.
- Launch the LanGuard console and go to Configuration > Scanning Profile Editor. Alternatively, press CTRL + P to launch the Scanning Profiles Editor.
- In the GFI LanGuard Scanning Profiles Editor, select the intended scan profile.
- Go to Network & software audit options > Applications.
- Select the Advanced options sub-tab.
- Select Enable full security applications audit for agent-less scans.
- Close the Scanning Profiles Editor.
Testing
Run a scan using the correct Scanning Profile and verify if LanGuard detects your security software correctly. If the issue persists, contact GFI LanGuard Support.
