Overview
In the Activity Monitor under the GFI LanGuard Agent Updates tab, some clients are constantly showing a status of Postponed.
Solution
The issue of the LanGuard Agent postponed status repeating over and over again usually means that the Agent on a client machine is stuck in a loop. To resolve this:
- Validate the size of the LanGuard backend database and if there is enough space available for the SQL server. If there are issues, increase the available space in the system or the Size of a Database if it is close to the limit.
- Purge the updates folder and download fresh definitions manually from the GFI Website as described in our guide.
- If the issue persists for a particular machine(s), Agent reinstallation is required in such cases:
- Uninstall the agent from the LanGuard console on the server.
- Wait until the console shows the status as agent not being installed.
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\LanGuard 12\Agent on the LanGuard server.
- Copy the LanGuard12Agent.msi to the client machine.
- Execute it as admin and choose the option to uninstall.
- Verify if the registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\gfi_lanss12_attservice
has been removed. If it still exists, delete it. You can back up the registry before this. - Reboot the machine.
- Deploy an agent on the machine once again from the LanGuard server.
- Force an update by initiating an agent scan (refresh information).
Testing
Check the update status in the Activity Monitor. If the issue persists, contact GFI LanGuard Support.
