Overview
You've noticed that LanGuard stopped downloading patches automatically, and the download updates history is empty. This happened after the partition got filled, and you had to clean it and add more disk space.
Solution
The missing download history and the fact that the new patches are not downloading automatically indicate that there are problems with the corresponding configuration files or the download queue was corrupted.
Please navigate to Configuration -> Software Updates -> Patch auto-download and check if the "Enable patch auto-download" box is still ticked. If it is not, tick it to enable, and restart the GFI LanGuard Attendant service.
If the option was already enabled, or the issue persists, this usually indicates the corruption of the download queue database toolcfg_patchautodownload.mdb. If you are not interested in the previous downloads history, purge the patch auto-download database and configure correct patch auto-download settings, enabling auto-download and ensuring the correct path to the repository (by default, C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\LanGuard 12\Repository\English
).
Alternatively, you can try to repair the database and retain the downloads history following the steps below:
- Close the LanGuardconsole and stop all the GFI LanGuard services.
- Navigate to
C:\ProgramData\GFI\LanGuard 12
. - Locate the database
toolcfg_patchautodownload.mdb
file and back it up by copying to a different location. - Open the original file with Microsoft Access or a similar utility, go to File > Info > Compact and Repair.
- Once the database is repaired, double-click on the table "Options".
- For the column "EnablePatchAutodownload", enter the following in the corresponding options:
- -1 for the "Only needed patches" download option in LanGuard console
- 1 for downloading "All patches"
- 0 for disabling patch auto-download
- In the column "PatchRepository", enter the location of the patch repository, by default,
C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\LanGuard 12\Repository\English
. - Save changes and exit.
- Restart all the GFI LanGuard services.
Testing
Give it time and check whether the required patches started to download. If the issue persists, contact GFI LanGuard Support.
