Overview

You encounter the following error in the Scanner Activity Window when scanning for missing patches for CentOS 8, Oracle Linux Server 8, or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 based machines.

Missing patches scan; Yum package manager failed: '<FrameSummary file <stdin>, line 129 in dnfScan>; <FrameSummary file <stdin>, line 94 in generatePatch> (1)'.

Information

CentOS, Oracle, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux distributions starting version 8 have adopted DNF instead of YUM for package management, which requires major changes to the GFI LanGuard scan engine for it to perform scanning and remediation operations properly.

If you are using one of these OS distributions and seeing the errors while running the scanning or remediation operations, you can provide the error details to the Support Team so we can submit a feature/enhancement request on your behalf to the Product Management for GFI LanGuard to include improved support for these OS distributions.
