Overview
You may be unable to deploy LanGuard Agent on certain machines, after an initial attempt to install failed. Manually installing the Agent by following How to manually install the GFI LanGuard agent also results in failure.
Solution
There's a possibility that the failed installation left some remains of the Agent in the target machine. To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below:
- Refer to the section Uninstalling Manually Using a Script of the article Uninstalling GFI LanGuard Agents. Please note that under no circumstance this manual command should be executed in the LanGuard Server. They are meant to clean up agent installation only in the target machines.
- Once the uninstall is complete, redeploy the agent from the console. Note that this also uses an MSI file and invokes the Windows Installer. You might want to refer to Error 1603 when you try to install a Windows Installer package: A fatal error occurred during installation and check the permissions on the SYSTEM account.
- If you notice that the agent failed to install even after waiting for several minutes, follow the Installing GFI LanGuard Agent Manually via Command Prompt article to verify if this could still be a local issue with the SYSTEM account.
