Why are scanning and agent deployment not working after moving LanGuard to different server?

Overview

After moving the GFI LanGuard to a different server, you can't get it to scan or deploy agents to machines in the domain.

 

Solution

The common reason for this issue is that some environmental variables have changed or settings were forgotten in the process of moving LanGuard to a different server.

  1. Certain prerequisites must be met for LanGuard to be able to deploy agents or scan correctly. Please, ensure them and verify the network connectivity and security permissions.
  2. Ensure protection engines and firewall exceptions according to the KB article Recommended Settings for Best Performance in GFI LanGuard.
  3. If the agent deployment is stuck in Pending status, resolve the issue with the steps from the corresponding article. Pay attention to the permissions of the account running the GFI LanGuard services.
  4. Update the LanGuard to get the latest Program Updates and definitions.

 

Testing

Verify the agent deployment status and rerun any failing scans. If the issue persists, contact GFI LanGuard Support.
